Slight problem with JL Audio 500/1 amp, please help
I got my 500/1v2 amp installed on the weekend along with the 12w6v2 sub. Sounds great, however, there's a slight problem.
When I turn the volumn down and then leave it for a few seconds, then turn it back up again, there's no bass for about 5 seconds, and then, all of a sudden the bass kicks in. It's like a delay with the bass catching up to the song when I turn it up. But then it plays just fine, i wonder what would cause this issue. Anyone have any experience?
Thanks

still got warranty??? i would send it in. are you using a hi/lo input converter also? could be a problem there. if you could test the amp in someone else car it will help to diagnose between the two. you can also use a home receiver. plug your rca in there and see if it creates the same situation. if theres a problem with the amp. probably a lose transistor or something small.

i dont' think it has warranty, i bought it used from some one local. We heard it in his car before purchasing it and it sounded great. I have the LOC installed, so that should be ok. i'm not sure what's going on here.

make sure the remote wire (thin blue wire) is ran from the head unite to the amp. some install places just run the rca wires. if thats the case, go back to them and tell them you want the remote wire ran to the amp....and its your preference.

O.P., what is your setup? that might help a little

I have it connected to my factory non-ML nav unit, also got the bass control **** installed. I have a MTX RE-Q installed also (bass restoration unit, had it on my previous amp, no problems), with a single JL 12w6v2. A friend of mine mentioned that there might be a flat spot on the gain setting, and suggested me to turn up or down the gain to see if that helps, what do you guys think?
I'll check on the remote wire too to see, but i remembered my installer did install that, i saw it, maybe a loose connection?

ok, this is a bit more weird, when I start the car, even with the volumn turned to 30 or 40, no bass, leave the song playing for about close to a minute no bass, so i change a song, and wait for about 10 seconds, and now boom! bass kicks in..... :S i'm dumb founded. i have no idea what's happening here...

okay, i figured it out. didn't have to call JL or anything.
There's a switch "Signal Sensing", it was turned ON, so I turned it OFF, and now, bass is always there and no delay.
Thanks everyone!
