Any reasonable substitute size for 255/40/18?
I'm shopping tires for my IS350. Most mfrs make the 225/40/18 size for the fronts. But, there are only a handful of (expensive) tires for the rear's 255/40/18. Is there a substitute size that may be more plentiful that fits on the stock rim, won't rub, won't look stupid and won't throw the speedo off too much?

The best choice is 265/35/18 , it is about 3/4" shorter than 255/40 but that makes it only 1/4" taller than the front 225/40 so it should even out fender gaps. I plan to try the 265/35 when I replace rear tires even thou it will speed up odometer a little. (might help acceleration too )

I went 245/40/18 in the back and 235/40/18 in the front. I am not a big fan of the staggered set up.
I bought GoodYear Eagle F1 AS tires. I havent put them on yet, but they have a 420 treadwear rating. Should last a long time. In 245/40/18, they weigh 28lbs.
Another good tire is the BFG G-Force SuperSport AS. They weigh 26 lbs each for 245/40/18. They have 400 Treadwear and outclass the good years according to tirerack. However, these tires are on back order for 2 months.
Both are around 160 each shipped from discount tire or tirerack
