Howling sound when letting off the gas
Hey, I just have a quick question about a howling sound when I'm slowing down. Everytime I floor it and let off or just sorta gasing it and letting off, there's this howling type sound. I don't remember this happening on my 250. Should this be something to be concerned about? Thanks in advance

Check around your air intake box where your air filter sits and make sure the upper and lower section in closed correctly. Your profile shows no aftermarket intake. Also check for no exhaust leaks and muffler is intact.. I have seen these items cause noise during deceleration...

I'm not sure if it is the tires, I didn't have this problem on the 250 at all. But then they were potenza instead of turanza which I have now. Lol wolf, that's a pretty descriptive of the sound though but yeah, I'll try and record it next time with the digi. Yup, engine is stock and I'll make sure everything is button up tight around the airbox. Ha! Shee I wish I had turbo! Woooooom pshhhhhh

Yeah well different tires make different sounds so it could be you're not used to it. Another thing that I can think of that "howls" on a car is maybe the differential. I remember when I had my WRX that when letting off the gas there is a howl/humm type of noise/vibration. It was normal on that car though. If it's on your IS though that's not normal because my IS never has that kind of noise. You should just bring it to service and have it checked out instead of having people on the forum try to guess what it is without hearing it. If it is your differential and it has like a fluid leak or something the longer you delay the worse the damage is going to be.
