Default camshaft question ??

i am working on a turbo build...in a way. Im slowly buying pieces to put it together, im in no rush lolz. I am questioning the exhaust side camshaft. Seeing as im using the VVT-i head i am questioning how big of a cam i can use. Will it be ok to use a 272 or do i have to use a smaller cam so i can stay close to the intake side cam?

i was wondering the same thing. i wanted to run both sides 272. when i had my dsm i was running 280s with stock valve springs and it handled it fine, but im not too familiar with the 2jz just yet

well i know you cant do both because intake side is for the VVT-i. therefore it makes the head pointless to run. And whether it is interchangeable even i doubt.

Look up the Brian Crower 264 or 272 camshafts for VVTI GE. You will need upgraded valve springs for the 272s though. Good luck.

yes that is a direct bolt on. and from there the sky is the limit and when i say sky i mean how much the bottom end will hold up which i doubt is alot unlike the supra bottom end.

Idk man my plans are a boosted Is300 and a manual swap. but im not in any rush at all so Im just looking at stuff and if i find a good deal on something i will purchase it but i dont have tons of money to just buy everything at once so its just an ongoing project that will get put together one day. Im going for looks as of now cause its my DD

well in theory that seems easier, but in reality its WAY to expensive. Why pay $5500ish for a full gte swap when you already have a 2jz? With all that money youll save you have forged internals and top shelf everything else
