Default front windshield defroster

So I just noticed that my car (2012) has defrosting lines built into the bottom couple of inches of the front windshield. Is this in all ISF's or is this a Canadian option. The button for this is just below the gauge cluster to the right side of the steering wheel/column. This is not on our IS250 AWD fully loaded Nav/Luxury everything package. On the IS250 the defrost button is used as the PWR/SNOW ECT control.

I have a 2008 IS-F, I'm almost positive I don't have the defrost line on the windshield. (also Canadian car).

I think it's called windshield de-icer. Looks to be a late model feature.
