AC Not Circulating and Bad Smell in the Car
Hi,
I think My Lexus 2007 IS250 doesn't circulate the inside air because:
I think My Lexus 2007 IS250 doesn't circulate the inside air because:
- when I push the button to change the circulation mode it doesn't make any sound. (The mechanical sound - Like other cars)
- when I drive the car and the AC is OFF, I feel the air is coming from outside (even it has been set to circulate the inside air last time and AC is OFF).
- Sometimes I feel a bad smelling inside the car when I push the gas pedal hard (something like smoke)
- I feel outside's smell (even when I set the AC to circulates the inside air)

Did you change the setting to recirculate when you changed the in-cabin air filter? If not, you probably broke something that is not letting the car change between outside and inside air.
The cats over time won't work as effectively as when new. The rotten egg smell is the cause of a reaction from the primary and secondary cats when at WOT.

Open the glove box and remove the cover like you are going to remove the air filter. Just remove the cover, not the air filter. Turn the ignition on and press the buttons for recirculate on and off. When you press recirculate off, you will see a plastic panel come down and block your view of the air filter. Press recirculate on and the plastic panel will move out of the way.

I gave my Toyota service dept. a printout of the page saying to close the recirculate when changing the filter and they still broke it. They made it right though.
