how wide can I go on my tires ?
2007 Rx400h
I've currently got 235/55/18s ... I was wondering how wide I could go without plugging in any spaces..
Also, Is it possible to go staggered ? Maybe 235/55/18 front & 255/55/18 rear ? Would this damage the AWD system ? I know we couldn't go staggered (with different diameters) on the benz, they said it could damage the differential...
thanks guys

Are planning to do any aftermarket wheels? If your using your stock rims to do this I'm not sure that it would be a great idea. I mean you could go thicker tire profile on your stockies without any problems, but this is totally different. AWD system is always best to go all around the same, try not to do staggered fitment.
Where did you hear that benz can't do staggered?

255 width is the widest you can go, some wider widths will rub the shock mounts as mine barely clear. But no need or reason to stagger them, as staggering is done for RWD cars that need more tire on the back. The Lexus is mainly FWD under full throttle.

255 seems to be the widest I've heard.
By the way, under full throttle acceleration, the 400h is actually AWD, not FWD as the rear electric motor kicks in to help with acceleration. It will quickly revert to FWD, however.

Bringing this back from the dead.
If you went with a 255 tire on the 400h, wouldn't you need to lower the aspect ratio? The stockers are 235/55/18. So if you want to go up you would do 245/50/18 or 255/45/18 to retain the proper circumference correct? A 255/55 would be a good bit taller.

Anyone done 255/45/18 on the stock wheels?

Just found this very cool tire size calculator. Lets you know everything. Seems you would want a 255/50r18 to keep the same circumference.
