Just wanted to say Hello and Thanks
Hey everyone.
I'm a new member who just wanted to take a minute to say hello and thanks to the forum (not sure if there's a proper place to put this type of post). I just purchased a 2005 GX470 with 84k & with the sports package. This forum has been a supremely helpful and inciteful resource during that process. As a guy who has had many differnt vehicles and who has modified many of them, I can't say enough thanks.
I worked the dealer down 9 grand using info from this forum ie. clunk fix, timing belt repair cost, shimmy at 65 mph ect. to get a straight up trade on my 2009 Infiniti G37X (going for lessthan 23k at most auctions right now). I got them to do the clunk fix, throw in the timing belt/water pump and do a road force balance to fix the shimmy at 65 as part of an already solid deal.
Additioanlly, I have already installed the lockpick utlimate (love it!) and the Vias XM set up (love it too!). I am pumped about my new ride.
Lastly I wanted to comment that I have participated in may different automitive online forums for prior vehicles (g37, fx35, tacoma, solara, xterra, legacy gt, to name a few) and can say the folks in here seem to have less attitude and ego than just about anywhere else I have dealt with. Perhaps it's just the nature of the folks who drive these cars...who knows...
Anyway, thanks to all those who blazed the trail before me on this vehicle and sorry if this is posted in the wrong spot.

Thanks everyone. I actually already added a sub and added hardwired RCA inputs into the center console off of the lockpick audio/video inputs. I'll post some pics in another post later. It's a pretty easy upgrade thats adds a stock feel to the inputs. And as for the sub, I think this might be the 1st vehicle I've ever owned that I will be able to stick with the stock system (plus sub). I have all sorts of goodies sitting in the garage that came out of my G37 ready to go (Focal components, Infinity 5 channel amp, Boston 12" sub, pre-amp amplifier/eq) but I don't think I'll need em. Hello Ebay!

I'm curious as to your thoughts on the G37 and why you dumped it? I seriously considered getting one... I wanted a sedan with the manual trans. Alas, I have a 65 Mustang I use for getting my thrills so I preferred an SUV.

Welcome and where are the pics! I felt the same way on the stereo, at least for now.
Def good people on CL, its not like other forums. I suspect your right, owners are probably a different crowd.

So here's the wired RCA set up. I bought a red, white, yellow wall mount RCA plate at Radio Shack for $9 that had double female rca plgs with a thread and nut on one side. All I had to do was take these plugs out of the plate. Then remove the seat and pull the rear climate control panel off. Then I ran extentions from the output of the Lockpick's audio out down the side of the console. Next I drilled 3 holes, bolted the rca plugs in, plugged stuff in and put it back together. The pics aren't super clear becasue they are from my phone, and I'm missing the shot of all 3 plugs finished inside the console, but you get the idea. This is basiclly the same set up that came stock in my 09 Infiniti G37. Nothing too difficult or special for that mater, but it's a lot better than loose wires hanging in the glove box.
