Minimum front and rear rotor thickness?
Hi, I'm planning to change brake pads on my 07 rwd and wonder if I need to change my rotors as well or if they can still be resurfaced. Does anybody know what's a minimum front and rear rotor thickness have to be before they need replace? Minimum thickness for resurface?
Thanks
Thanks

I went to my dealer to get mine replaced and I'm pretty sure they told me they recommend changing at 3mm. Front and rear. I think it was at 1 or 2 mm the previous owner never had them replaced and my 2008 GS 350 had 55K miles on it when I replaced them. I hope this helps.

Recommendations:
OEM Rotors or Adam's Rotors
StopTech Street pads for a more aggressive street pad with very little dust (I have these on my GS300 AWD and absolutely love them)
or
Akebono ProAct for a low dust pad that is OE quality

There is an arrow on each rotor, it indicates when the minimal amount is. In my case, I had a substantial amount of pad life left, although I thought it was near the end of the life so I purchased new rotors+pads. I kept the O.E. rotors and pads for future use, as on the rotor it hasn't gone to the arrow yet.

Here's the spec for the front and rear rotors for a gs350
FRONT
Front brake disc thickness
Standard thickness 30.0 mm (1.181 in.)
Minimum thickness 27.0 mm (1.063 in.)
Front brake disc runout
Maximum disc runout 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.)
REAR
Rear brake disc thickness
Standard thickness 18.0 mm (0.709 in.)
Minimum thickness 16.5 mm (0.650 in.)
Rear brake disc runout
Maximum disc runout 0.05 mm (0.0020 in.)
If its getting close to minimum thickness i would suggest getting new rotors, oem rotors always worked best for me in terms of noise and vibration.
Hope that helps!
