Strange Rear Rotor Issues
Had my car in for service the other week when the advisor mentioned that my rear pads needed immediate replacement and rotor resurface. Since I'm mechanically inclined, I decided to order OEM rotors and Akebono pads.
After taking off my rear rotors, I noticed some interesting issues on the backside. Rotor appears to have strange wearing...almost as if there's an issue with the calipers? Both rear rotors looked the same which is what's more odd.
Long story short, after replacing the rotors/pads, I am now seeing that the pad isn't biting the entire rotor. If you notice the outer-edge of the rotor, it doesn't seem like the pad makes contact?
On the contrary - the car seems to brake fine at all speeds...nice and smooth. Any ideas or is this appearing normal post installation? Thanks in advance...

Holy crap did you let your car sit for a while before and let rust build up? Onto the new rotors though sometimes aftermarket pads don't cover the whole surface area like oem pads do. Compare the two in size and how they sit in the bracket...
I drive this car daily...it doesn't sit. New Akebono pads are same as the OEM in size... many other folks highly recommend these pads on our forums.
damm , that I have not seen, and its only on the inside which it the piston side, the only way that would happen if the piston was not coming out all the way, because no way that would ever happen, so if I were you take the wheels off again and look at the inside make sure its the same wear on the outside, unless your piston is frozen.

That rotor looks like something from an old, poorly maintained car, that's been sitting in a junk yard.
I'd like to see the other side of that rotor...
