Thumbs down Where is Bank 1 Sensor 2 on 2000 GS300?

My check engine light came on and the scan trouble code reads P0141 02 Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 2 Heater Circuit Malfunction. I ordered the part and removal tool but can't find where to install it as there are a few of them on the car. Does anyone have a photo and description of the area. This will help a lot. I had a schematic diagram emailed to me from the the company I got the parts from but can't make it out as it is a drawing and hard to read. A actual picture is worth a thousand words. Maybe a million in this case. Please reply if you have any pics or easy description. Thanks, DanozGS300

Smile Which in Photo Sensor is Bank 1 Sensor 2?

I took this picturs from the top front hood view on the passenger side looking down into the engine. Photo taken from the top with the hood up. Does anyone know if Bank 1 Sensor 2 are any one of these sensors. The front one or the back one which is kind o9f blurry on the photo. I looked under the car and there is another one which I believe goes through the floor board. The one in the picture located in the back is really in a tight spot. Please reply if you know. Thanks....

I am not sure about the GS specifically, but on my RX300, Bank 1 sensor 2 is after the main catalytic converter beneath the the vehicle.

Well its none of those, its the last sensor on the exhaust pipe that runs into your floorboard. bank 1 is cyl. 123 bank 2 is cyl 456, sensor 1 is before the cat and sens 2 is after the cat. make sure you have a good penetrating lubricant , they do seize up easy and cross thread.

Hi Shawnjohn9,
After looking over the schematic drawing. It looks like the one that runs into the floor board is a different one. Please look at this scematic and let me know if you still feel it it Bank 1 Sensor 2 that runs into the floor board. I appreciate more feekbacks from other viewers as well. Keep them coming. Thanks, Dan...

yeah your right, i just went outside and looked at my car, it is the sensor after the cat on 123 exhaust side. I was thinking bank 2 sensor 2 for some reason. What I do at work when im not looking at my notes is compare the sensor the parts guys give me when im not 100% positive. So in your picture its the sensor on the bottom, it looks like you have the top one unplugged from the picture. just remember bank 1 is 123 bank 2 is 234 and sensor 1 is pre cat and sensor 2 is after cat.

Default Wrong O2 Sensor Part Pics - Need to Exchange...

Hi shawnjohn9,
I actually have the bottom back (circled one) unpluged as seen in the pic. I was checking to make sure the prong fitting on my replacement part fits before I intsall. The schematic diagram shown above is for the GS300 which I got from another forum. It looks like the part company gave me the wrong part as the fitting does not match and the dividing bar going in a different direction. The (new part) middle dividing bar area has samll piece in the middle of that also and not the same as the original which is just a line (old part) as shown in the pics. It's a good thing I did not remove it yet as I would have been upset taking the old one off and putting it bak on again due to a wrong part sent. I am in the process of getting it exchanged. Are all the prong fittings the same on all the O2 sensors with only the wire length being different? The one sent to me was slightly different and will not align. You can view the 2 different prong fittings in the photo above. I'll forward this info to the parts guy also. A picture is worth a thousnad words and also beats the headache of getting another wrong part sent to me again. It's a good learning experience and good things will come out of this. I can't wait till my check engine light is removed. I also bought the OBDII scanner to remove the code once repaired. The part was purchased from ebay from a seller who sells many O2 sensors. He recommended this one after I gave the trouble code and said it''s for Bank 1 Sensor 2. He then sent this part for my 2000 GS300 and seems reputable with good feedbacks. Probably a human error. I'll post again once the replacement part is exchanged and corrected.

yeah the plastic housing is different as well. I always replace with original equipment so the wires are the same and wire routing is the same as the ones i take off. I know the gx has colored tabs on the wire that lets you know its the right part as well. remember to use alot of penetrating lubricant it looks like that sensor has never been changed. you could let the lube soak over night as well. FYI- when backing out the sensor and it gets tight, tighten the sensor a turn and then back out, keep doing that until its out and you should not have any problems. good luck and yes the part circled is the correct sensor.

Thanks for your input shawnjohn9. I'll post another reply when I finish installing the part. Hopefully this will help other members as well. This is what makes this site great.
