Entered my ES350 Thursday evening after dinner and the TPMS light came on. I looked at all of the tires, felt them and they seemed fine to drive. When I arrived home, I checked all of the pressures. Three and the spare were at 32 psi, one tire was at 27 psi. I added air to the 27 psi tire and the light still stayed on. I went to my local garage, we checked all tires for any punctures and found none. Air pressures including the spare were at 32 psi. Checked the tire label on the inside of the drivers door and it read 30 psi. Drove home with the light still on. Called the local Lexus dealer for an appointment to check out the TPMS system. They advised to add sir to 34 - 35 psi and the light should go out. Did raise the psi on all tires including the spare to 35 psi and the light did go out upon drive away. But Lexus recommends 30 psi per door sticker. Thought this was really odd.

That is odd. Since the system reset, I wonder if the light would stay off if you backed the tire pressures down to 32 psi?

I've run 32 lbs in my '07 and '10 with no problems from the TPMS.

I don't know what your weather has been but yesterday a neighbor and both of my sons came over to have me check their tires because the TPMS light was on. All tires were the same and at a good pressure but yesterday was the first cool morning we have had in several months and I think they all had set or reset their TPMS at some time at a little higher pressure and with the temperature drop they were showing low. Same thing worked - add some air but that was higher than I liked so I set the pressure where I wanted it and reset the system. Everyone left happy. Dealer service people seem to put in a lot of air and maybe they reset the systems as well.

How do u reset the system? or do u just need to add AIR

Interesting post . Sounds like me late in 2009 when we bought our 07 CPO. It seemed a bit rough and checked pressure and they were at 35 -37. Noted same 30 psi on door and reset all 4 to 32. Next drive warning light came on. Contacted dealer who indicated they should have 35. But why 30 on door. That's too low. Blah blah blah. Anyway had to reset to 35 to get light to go out. A bit odd if you ask me. Said i'd prefer to reset warning to go off say at 27 so i could keep 32 etc. Can't figure out how though.
Anyway, last trip i rotated tires, dealer said the new Michellin's they put on when sold car to me etc. would only last 30m. Unreal.

I wonder why the dealerships like to inflate the tires higher than the manufacturers recommended pressure? Better gas mileage?

My '07 was delivered with nearly 40 psi all around. The tires are overinflated for shipment from Japan, I don't think they adjusted them prior to delivery.

I don't know either LexBob. Everytime I take my car in it comes back with 40 psi in each tire just as it did when I first got it. I can feel the difference right away and bleed them down to 33 psi when I get home and they have cooled down a bit.

Have the car since 10/06 and this is the first time this happened with the TPMS light and adding air to the tires. Will back it down to 32 psi and see what (if anything) happens to the light.

Set the pressures to either 30# or 32 or 35 and just make sure all tires including the spare are at the same pressure. Do this when the tires are cold before you drive. Then reset the TPM light . Info for this is in the OM. If you check your tire pressure once a month you should never get the light .

Speaking of tire pressure, my car was delivered with nitrogen in the tires at no charge. I don't think it's something I'd pay extra for, but so far I've been impressed with how little variation there is in the tire pressure. With the big temperature swings we have here all of the tires have maintained their pressures.

My guess is most people don't check tire pressure of car on regular basis. Tires lose air, so adding a little more air guarantees that tires wont be underinflated for a longer period of time, and TPMS light wont come on if tires lose some air. Most people dont even know what the TPMS light is. Once they see the light they think there is something wrong with the car, so they either call or bring the car to dealrship and waste their time.

Costco has been using nitrogen for a while now -- it really does work. With lifetime rotation and rebalancing included in the purchase price, as long as they have tires you like, buying them there is a no-brainer.
