Default low tire warning light

whats up guys? my low tire light is on. it has been on for about a month but i haven't had a flat yet. all the tires were inflated. one was at 40 psi but thats it. i have reset this light about 3 different times. i do have a different brand tire on the drivers front after a blowout but it is the same size tire. what is my problem?

Did you check the spare?

The TPMS in the LS430 is not a real-time monitoring of each tire with a sensor in the wheel. It's using the ABS system and rotation of tires relative to each other to determine if tires are low or not. If you somehow have all four tires going low at the same rate, the TPMS will never trigger. Your problem has nothing to do with the spare.

Like Ayonnebay said, look in forum for "initializing tire pressure monitor" and you should get previous threads on how to do this. Plus, it's in your owner's manual.

Once the light triggers, even if you fill all back up to the same level, I believe the light stays on, so you HAVE TO reinitilize the monitor.

A different brand tire might be just different enough size wise to trigger the TPS.

You may be budget constrained and thats understandable right now, but if at all possible you really need to be riding on 4 of the same tires (same brand, model, and wear) if at all possible but I'm sure you know that. Mixed tires is never a good long term plan. Is the spare one of the matching set or is it different also?

the recommended I believe is 30psi for stock wheels. i wonder how much drop or increase in PSI you need to get that warning. It would have been nice if the TPMS read out each tire PSI, like the Infiniti cars.

An in tire TPMS system requires a proprietary wireless battery operated pressure sensor be installed on each wheel. It is an expensive PITA in my opinion especially after 5-6 years when you have to buy and install all new sensors ($200/per sensor) as the batteries die one at a time and have your tires and wheels dismounted, remounted and rebalanced. And that's if they don't malfunction but instead work properly until the battery start to die. No thanks.
