Default Need some questions answered

So yesterday I was driving to work when a rock jumped up and hit my windsheild. I didn't see anything at that moment, but I heard a loud crack type noise. On my drive home I saw an impact crack, like a star, that had formed on the lower part of my windshield . Since I noticed it, and following the 30 mile drive home, the small crack has grown about 8" upwards and extended down as well.

Am I screwed into buying a new windshield?

Any repairs to be done without full replacement?

Covered by insurance?

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks

Call your insurance company....most of tthem cover windshield replpacements.

8'' sounds pretty extensive...I don't think they can do an epoxy fill for something like that.

Mike,

It will need to be replaced. You should have glass coverage on your policy without jumping your rates so no worries. This happens to the best of us. make sure they use OEM glass as many companies say they do, but do not.

Get your insurance to cover you for OEM factory glass not an aftermarket and have it installed at the dealer...trust me my ex worked for statefarm they do it all the time you have to be specific!

Sorry to hear...some insurance companies will replace at no cost regardless of your deductible.

Seems to be a common problem with Lexus from what I have read from all the models. Mine has been replaced on my car prior to my purchase.

Hope it all works out

Mike, make sure you get OEM Lexus glass! Have the dealer do it! I recently had the same problem. Went cheap with Safelite and it was a mess. Do it right and pay the extra $!

Yea I have PPG I think for my replacement. It was on the car when I purchased. So far I haven't had any issues but I think I put 4k miles on my car since I purchased.
