Tires for 2000 LS400 Platinum
My tires need replacing on my 2000 LS400 Platinum. Live in CA, no snow. Main requests are low road noise, second is comfort. Sportiness or handling are less important. Better mileage would be nice.
Does anyone have a recommendation?
My wife put the last set on and they are BF Goodrich Traction T/As P225 16s. My pereception is that road noise went up significantly from the previous Michelins (Some form of MXV4 tire, don't remember specfics)
Thank-you

Thanks
Johnnyg66,
Thanks for the reply. Turns out my local tire store had a 2 day sale this weekend for $100 off 4 Michelins, so I put on a set of MXV4 Primacy. They were highly thought of in some reviews I read. So far, I like them. Very quiet, very smooth. More money than the 727s, but with the discount, it was good enough for me.
thanks again,
MKD

The original tires on the 2000 LS400 were either "Summer Bridgestone Turanza ER33 P225/60R16 97V (Code: 035-629) or All-Season Dunlop SP Sport 4000 P225/60R16 97V (Code: 0207-55).": http://www.lexus.com/contact/pdf/2000/2000LSspecs.pdf
My 2000 LS400 had the original Dunlop SP Sport 4000 all season tires when I bought the car used in 2003 and I replaced them with a set of similar Bridgestone 5000 tires. I'm currently using Michelin Primacy MXV4 all season tires in spring/summer/fall (Bridgestone Blizzak snow tires in winter) but the car was more fun to drive with the Bridgestone RE750 ultra high performance summer tires I had on the car before that.
The MXV4's are a bit "squishy" but are quiet and provide a nice ride and decent enough handling. The RE750's felt "rigid" and provided much sharper steering response while providing an acceptably compliant ride but they were worn out after 20,000 miles. As much as I love the quiet and pleasant ride of the all season Michelins, I'm sorely missing the fun those Bridgestone summer tires provided.

The '97 LS I just bought from my sister needed tires and uses the 225/60-16 size also. Just put a set of Bridgestone Ecopia on. I was also looking for a smooth, quiet tire and was willing to trade off some "sportiness" for those qualities. They delivered! Tire noise from our lousy chip seal roads here in Texas is a problem. These tires really muffle the road noise. They also balanced out perfectly.

I have a recommendation of a tire to avoid. Last year I put a set of Pirelli Cinturato P5's on my 2000 LS and they are the the worst tires I've ever purchased from a road noise perspective. I'll never buy Pirelli again.
