I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I saw a reception this warm for a Toyota product. I have just cruised through VWVortex, some Honda forums, Autoblog, newcelica.org, and several others and there is universal praise by EVERYONE.

Awesome...

What's wrong with keeping this front bumper?

Why does the concept bumper almost never make it to production?......

I wonder what the production model will be called? Are they really going to call it Celica again? Bringing back AE86 sounds good...

I haven't said this about a Toyota product in a long, long, LONG time, but I fell immediately IN LOVE with this vehicle. First of all, it's just freaking gorgeous. And the only real non-production ready thing on this model are the headlamps, wheels, brakes and rear view mirrors. Everything else looks pretty much production ready, even that front bumper which is no more crazy in it's shaping and bumper-area than, say, a 370Z. We've seen gorgeous Toyota concepts before (LF-A II, FT-HS) but nothing as close to reality as this car is. If this car comes to production like this (and why not! Look at it! It's pretty much good to go save a new interior...) then they will have a HOME RUN and a new injection of respect from the car industry and customers, with this car at the bottom and the Lexus LFA at the top. Secondly, this car represents everything Toyota has NOT the past few years. Two feet shorter, one foot lower and same width as a Genesis coupe? Boxer engine, FM engine configuration? Dedicated chassis? A car dedicated solely to handling perfection? Sign me up. The gods have sent a revelation amongst us and its name is the freakin' FT-86.

let's hope toyota keeps this sheet metal at least.

i don't see how ANYTHING on the exterior would be expensive to produce.

anyone want to see it in black?

This is a pretty cool looking car. I bet the exterior will be VERY close when it goes to production. Obviously the interior will look nothing like it does now.. I have a good feeling about this car - mainly because I see that Toyota is very interested in pleasing the automobile "enthusiast". So I bet it'll be light, quick and easily modifiable.. I guess I'd better get working on http://www.ft86.net/

Now this is what I'm talking about. This could be the home-run that Toyota has been looking for. Something that sparks or recaptures the former glory that Toyota once held with the Celicas, MR2s, Supras and RWD Corollas of past. Competitively priced, reliable, and most importantly the fun-to drive cars!

This car is so damn sick that I completely lost interest in my old SC300 that I just recently kitted and painted. Thanks Toyota!

A mini LF-A at 1/10 of the price!
