Whoa, pretty neat!!! A lot of the FT-HS in the design...and the AE86 is making a comeback! Who would've thunk?

I like the digital readouts for the interior...

Toyota goes sporty for Tokyo auto show

Hans Greimel
Automotive News

TOKYO -- Toyota Motor Corp. goes sporty at this months' Tokyo Motor Show, unveiling its vision for a sport coupe being jointly developed with Subaru.

The Toyota-badged car, dubbed the FT-86 Concept, is the spiritual successor to the AE86 sport coupe of the 1980s, which was based on the Corolla. Like its boxy predecessor, the FT-86 Concept is compact, lightweight and has a low center of gravity.

But the styling is modernized with a rounded, sleek silhouette.
[...]

Tada also said it gets a dedicated chassis, noting that “enthusiasts don't want a shared platform.”
Edit:1SICKLEX posted full above.

In a speech to media in Tokyo on October 1, new Toyota CEO and Nurburgring 24-hour race driver Akio Toyoda enthusiastically explained that the company plans to put greater effort from now on into building 'more emotional cars' and that the FT-86, and Lexus LFA on a more extreme scale, are just the first in a long line. In justifying his racing efforts at the world's most grueling race track, Toyoda said "It is important for management like me to drive our cars not only on public roads, but also in competition to fully understand where our engineers are coming from." He went on to say that he is not racing for the sake of racing, but rather testing cars like the LFA and IS F on road surfaces in competitive environments that push a car's chassis and suspension to the limits.

Reminds me of Lotus...

Vehicle : FT-86 Concept

looks sweet but def. a 'concept' version. a production model may well be quite a bit different when they add little things like front suspension travel or seats not made of rock hard plastic.

You're crushing my dream, dammit!

I am a big "wheel" guy and always feel like a 5 spoke or split 5 spoke does the most to complement nearly any design. The LF A was just the closest that I could find and the easiest to chop....but I really do like the design on this car.

Looks really nice. I wish this thing was the size of a Z or RX 8.

Maybe they will take one and stretch it, put in a v6 and call it it's big brother

I really think this concepts styling is a homerun.

i wonder how much they're gonna water down the production model.

What's wrong with keeping this front bumper?

Why does the concept bumper almost never make it to production?......
