PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY, WATER BY-PASS circled at interface with water pump. There is a slight taper in back of water pump to receive the water bypass. If the o-ring is not sufficiently compressed, then leakage may occur.

Fill hole bolt on thermostat housing did not want to budge andcapplying more force would probably break something else. 30 years of immersion in coolant has probably fused steel bolt to Aluminum housing.

Not Denso. The seal is improvement over flat seals used by other brands, but the bottom shell has only 6 holes vs 8 for YZZD3, should be flat for optimum capacity and anti-drainback function... All TRD had to do was direct Denso to produce a housing taller than YZZD3,.install YZZD3 style filter element, use 8 or perhaps 9 holes - but elongate them.oval as does Ford to increase flow.

Underside of the four brands. Count the number of drainback holes. Also, the Denso filter is flat bottom, while the other brands employ wine bottle bottom style. I like the oblong holes of Motorcraft filter over round holes of others.
