Yes Im new to the forum but ive been following it for sometime so I figured id sign up to vent. Last week I was driving my IS300 and hit a pothole.. blew up a tire and the other had a bubble so i ordered 2 new ones from tirerack (got the orig from them in sept last year). Today i was changing lanes on the lie when there was another pothole on the highway! Blew up another tire (the new one) and another has an insane bubble on the side. Thats 4 tires in 1 week and a total of 8 tires since sept 09. they were all new michelin A/S all seasons and theyre draining my pocket like anything. Im not a bad driver and have been avoiding em like anything but sometimes on a highway you cant swerve suddenly
I really wanted to buy the extra warranty from tirerack but its apparently controlled by a side company that has nothing but complaints from people online. I am now set to buy two more.... =/
Well tough luck bro, welcome to CL. Where in NY are you driving? Are your other friends experiencing the same tire situation with their cars ? Can you take any other route with less potholes ?
Tell me about it. I drive around queens and nassau so thats two tires for each location. And yeah apparently the problem is fairly common, especially with 17 inch rims. After the snow season, the roads here are like acne on a pubescent face and no one seems to care to fix them
Ive been contemplating switching to 16 inch rims but they wont look as good..
honestly dude if you are on the lie you really shouldnt complain. I live in Brooklyn and my 18s and 19s have taken a beating but never popped a tire yet. What PSI do you ride with your tires at?
lol thank god i dont drive on the LIE . belt is getting worse by the day.
Absolutely right Joe, I was on it yesterday and its getting worse and worse daily. I think that a tank wouldnt be able to make it through it without breaking down.

Going over that drawbridge on the Belt Pkwy close to Flatbush ave is always an experience.

Dont remind I was just on it a few hours ago, almost lost a wheel over there. Thank God there was traffic, so I was doing the lane shuffle at 2 MPH. Us NY'ers pray for traffic to avoid the potholes LOL
