Default Worst tire thread!

Has a "Worst tire thread" been started yet?

If not I will start:
Brand: Sumitomo HRTZ 2

Why? Horrible treadwear rating of 200, chunks of the rubber came off the tire after only 1 week of use.

Size used: 245/35/20

Just want to make sure that no one wastes there time or money on these.

Sorry I sold them quick on craigslist before they became worthless. The rubber on the edge of the tread wore down way fast...funny thing is the guy I sold them to had a set on his car and there were chunks missing from his tire on the inside. You could see the steel belt.

Ok...just took off my 225/30/20 General Exclaim UHP on 20x8.5 rims in front.
There was a crack where the tread met the side wall that looked like a blade cut through. Basically the tire split on both front tires.
Replaced them with Nitto Neo Gen 225/35/20...we'll see how these hold up.
Front is at -2.3 camber.
Anyone else going to join in?

worst tires in anything but dry pavement? Bridgestone Potenza RE 92's & Bridgestone Turanza EL 42's. OE on many new cars including Lexus.

IT COULD BE your camber and load rating of the tires causing the damage. pretty standard for a lot of us to have tires basically disintigrate when we run serious negative camber. are you stretched too?

Yup, minor stretch and negative 2-3 degrees. I didn't think I was that low.

i STRONGLY disagree with your review of the generals, i ran them for a year on my 18s without any issues at all, liked them so much i just put a pair on the rear of my 20s

man, i think it's just your camber and stretch doing it. some tires can hold up to that kind of (mis)use longer than others, but i wouldn't blame a tire for something that you basically caused. i'm not ripping you, i run neg. camber and stretched tires too, but i know that i'll be replacing them every 3 months so i dont' even worry about it. i pick up used tires from work and just stick them on.

The only problem I had with mine was that the traction sucked so bad I replaced them after only three months and basically gave them away... Since then I've vowed to never use a cheap tire again...

I had a customer buy a set of these for his Mustang for an autocross - just wanted something cheap... Coincidently, I saw him at the next autocross and he was running horrible times, and the tires did the exact same thing... A friend I was with told me he was usually one of the fast guys out there...

Puredrifter...the Generals did seem pretty good. I used them then flipped them for about a month with the good tread on the inside and somehow they started splitting. They do seem to have a nice pattern and thick and durable tread. It could be my camber and mild stretch. I might need to run some 17" or 18" as back up once in awhile. I have had good luck with Nitto in the past and Toyo's seemed to work well too.
