Question 2002 LS430 19" Amistad upgrade, Offset help please?

Heya peoples,
Ive copied this post i originally posted in the wheel/tires section and in the LS430 section, but no help there yet so i thought i would ask the VIP'ers here. Hopefully i find some love in this section.

Im looking at ordering some Amistad wheels from Japan, and ive been trying to work out what offsets are "just" safe for a 2002 LS430.

From Admiration i have the following specs, but they say "fender work". I dont mind a slight roll of the guard lip, but dont want to do much more than that.

From Amistad (fender work):
FRONT 19×9.0J+31 (high disk) REAR 19×10.0J+32

From retailer in Japan:
If you do not hope for the processing of the fender.
The following size is a threshold limit value >

AMISTAD KLAUD 2PS REVERSE
Front : 19" 9.0J +37(LOW) 245/35
Rear : 19" 10.0J +44(SLOW) 275/30

Can anyone help with offset specs they are running please? or recommendations?
Im planning around a 50-60mm drop also.

Thanks in advance,
Pete
South Oz.

Ps, here in Australia ive never herd the term to "shave" a guard. Can someone please explain?

hey Pete,

'Shaving' is where the lip at the bottom of the arch is cut off to increase guard to wheel/tyre clearance. People generally just roll guard lips over here, and then carefully pump the arch if the roll doesn't get the job done.

I've generally rolled and flared my guards where necessary using a heat gun and guard roller and that's been enough, but then,I also don't go past the limit with my wheel fitment.
Shaving requires cutting away of metal and the paint to be touched up afterwards on the inside of the lip. Rolling is paint-free,but won't give quite as much extra space as shaving would. There's a few extra mm in it.
On some cars, that makes all the difference.

Heya Justin, good to see another Aussie on here, and one with a 430 at that!
Thanks for the tip re shaving.

So I should be right with X9 +31 and X10 +31 or +32, hopefully a roll will suffice.. Now do decide and order.

No worries Pete. There are a few of us on here,I've counted 4 so far, including myself. I'm sure there are a few more lurking around that I haven't met yet.

19x9 +31 up front will be sweet. on the rear with 10's,you might want to go a little more conservative, say +38 or so. you can always come back out a few mm with spacers, but if they sit too far out,you can't fix that without running more neg camber or massaging the bodywork. if you're on coilovers,I'd suggest you drop the car first,do some measuring with your current wheels, and then make an ordering decision.

There's another south aussie on here, who's car shopping atm. his nick is bfg23. Maybe send him a message and see if you can give him any local pointers for finding a 430 if you get a chance.

those offsets sound pretty conservative. usually when you get into the single digits is when you start to get the flush/poke look. if you were running 19x9 +5~ I would think you might be getting close to fender rub. this is considering that you were thinking about going that route. i bet a 19x10 +0 rear would look pretty nice with a roll and maybe a slight pull.
