Default Remote start firmware upgrade

For starters, if anyone doesn't know, you can start the car remotely with the key fob. It's nowhere in the literature and seems most salespeople don't know. Decided to use mine recently and learned that neither the fob method nor the app method worked. Dealer said a firmware upgrade was required. After the upgrade, the app worked but wouldn't give me an updated status that the engine was running. Reinstalled the app and all good now. Just an fyi.

That's not true regarding an updated firmware.

My '19 allowed this to be done as long as I had the Enform "Remote" subscription active. This is the same for prior Lexus models that also have the Enform subscriptions.

FYI:
Lexus used to have two separate apps for remote start 'Lexus' and 'Lexus Enform', but now it's under just "Lexus"

Factory run-time is set for 10 minutes before the engine shuts off.

Yes it's a nice feature to have. For anyone that is not aware how to do remote start. You need to hit the lock button three times and then holding it until the lights on the vehicle flash multiple times.

Does anyone know how to keep the car running when you unlock it? It's a nuisance having to restart the car once you enter.

Yes, you do need to have an active subscription for the remote start from either the app or the key fob.

No way of disabling this safety feature. Car will shut off when any of the doors are opened.

Do you need to do the firmware update by the dealer or you can do it yourself? Where do you get the firmware upgrade?

MIne was done by the dealer. I also had to re-register with Lexus services (2020 models come with a 3-year subscription). After that the app was hanging so I had to uninstall and reinstall the app.

You don't need the firmware update to remote start with the key fob. The firmware update is to fix a bug on some 2020 UXs and ESs. You would only need it if your remote start isn't working at all. (although there could be other reasons it isn't working)

Do you click the lock button 3 times and on the 3rd time hold down the lock button? If done correctly, the turn signals front and rear should flash 3 times and chime (just like how it would with the Enform Lexus app) and will start.

Yup, I've tried it with both remotes and no luck. I've tried it right in front and back of unit and no luck. I can only do it on the app...

Thanks for your recommendation on getting the firmware update done at the dealer. (It was done at no charge ! ) Dealer said there were 3 new upgrades since the first one came out. I can now remote start my car with the remote.....

Is it true the Lexus app to start the vehicle is not available for signature and premium packages in Canada?

Latest news in the key fob remote start saga...
Lexus has extended the Safety Connect and Service Connect services to
120 month (10 years) from Date of First Use (DOFU) for 2018 and newer Lexi.

If you have any subscripted services (including this trial extension) the key fob will
Remote Start the car with the Press/release/press/release/press and hold cadence.
Range of the fob is quite short, published as 80'. Car shuts off when you unlock it.

The trial for the Lexus App (Black icon w/ silver Lexus Arrowhead logo) is three (3) years.
You no longer have to pay for the subscription to use the fob but you do need to subscribe
to use the phone to Start/Stop/Lock/Unlock/Find/Follow/Monitor or schedule service visits.

I heard the Lexus app is very bad with battery drain. If there is no subscription, does it mean that the Lexus app is useless for NX350H?
