Default Lexus UX

With just a few weeks left until the 2016 Paris Auto Show will open its gates, certain vehicles are starting to reveal their shapes, in more or less official images, and the Lexus UX Concept is just one of them.

Carrying an edgy exterior that brings it closer to its larger siblings, the NX andRX, the study uses cameras instead of the conventional side mirrors and, judging by the handles joined at the B pillar, we might be looking at a pair of rear suicide doors.

The presence of two exhaust pipes, incorporated into the rear diffuser, suggests that an internal combustion engine will be responsible for setting it in motion, but AutoWeekstates that the propulsion recipe could include a combo between gasoline and electricity, forming a hybridized powertrain.

Since Toyota Motor Corporation had already trademarked the UX200, UX250 and UX250h monikers with the European Union Intellectual Property Office this summer, chances are the automaker will put it into production as a rival for the Audi Q2. Whether it will share some of the underpinnings of the Toyota C-HR is unknown at the time, but more light will be put on it prior to its French debut, during an online unveil.

I am looking forward to seeing this in person. It should hopefully sell like hot cakes. All I can hope for it can have a better ground clearance than a RAV4, something closer to a Subaru XV.

It will be something I would be looking to get in say 2 years.

Based on my experience with the NX, people should wait for the 2nd generation. Unless they need and want it now now now.

Hopefully the production model looks nothing like that monstrosity.

The real question is, is the UX a replacement for the CT?

No UX200t?!

Default New Lexus UX Crossover Concept Officially Announced For Paris

After the first picture of Lexus’ new UX Concept leaked out on the web earlier today, the Japanese carmaker made it official, confirming its world premiere for the Paris Auto Show at the end of September.

We still don’t get much in the way of information about the UX other than that it was penned at Lexus' European Design Centre, ED2, to showcase the brand’s future design direction.

According to a short statement from Lexus, “Its strongly differentiated identity is meant to appeal to a progressive, urban audience living in a connected environment. The UX Concept also showcases imaginative technologies for an immersive driver experience, while the interior marries traditional craftsmanship with high-tech manufacturing techniques.”

It’s also very likely that the UX is Lexus’ way of teasing a future small crossover slottingunder the current NX, as a rival to models like the Audi Q2, as more and more carmakers shift their focus away from traditional hatchbacks and sedans to SUVs. Further supporting this is the fact that, Lexus' parent company, Toyota, recently trademarked the UX200, UX250 and UX250h (hybrid) names with the European Union Intellectual Property Office. We'll have more information at the Paris Auto Show on September 29.

Joining the UX Concept at the Paris Auto Show will be the refreshed Lexus IS in European-specification, as well as the new NX Sport Edition and the LC sports coupe.

Most likely.

I am not sure why Lexus would use UX and not CX?

Looks like a MB GLA competitor?

Pretty cool, Lexus has been very ballsy lately.

Really hoping to see a 4 door coupe from Lexus but is that what the LF-FC is supposed to be? A cross between a 4 door coupe and their luxury sedan flagship?

It should have been redesigned by now, maybe they are holding out to show it in 2017.

It will probably be a MB GLA competitor and if so, it be maybe around C$36-$38k. Which would be a premium over the Toyota C-HR.
