Default 12V battery tender

My car will occasionally sit for a while, and I have used a batter tender on the 12V battery. On the UX, should I connect it to the jump points under the hood or directly on the battery in the trunk?

I've always put it to the battery in the trunk (with quick disconnects), have had zero issues to date for the past 6 years.

I have battery tender and have used the 2 spots under the hood that are recommended by Lexus. For the positive, there is a flip-up contact block inside the fuse box. For negative there is a contact block on/near the motor. I believe these 2 spots are described with illustrations in the owner's manual.

On a related note, Lexus recommends to connect directly to the battery in the trunk for jump start situations.
