Vibrations?
I changed the rims on my SC 400. Now i notice a shaking or vibration at about 67 to 70 mph. over that speed and there is no shaking. I'm still using the Pirelli tires that were on the car and the rims were all balanced. Any ideas on the cause for this problem?
Thanks Ken

usually the cause is tyre/wheel out of balance.
try to located a shop with hunter machine and pay for a speed balance act.
if it still does not work, you might need to check for bend rim

If you purchased an aftermarket cast aluminum wheel, they probably have a larger centerbore (also called "pilot hole," this is the hole in the backside of the wheels that fits over the hub) than your Lexus, so the wheels will not be hub-centric.
This may cause the wheels to mount on the car somewhat eccentically, causing a vibration.
Make sure the wheels have the little plastic O-ring installed in each center hole. For the Lexus, the size is 60.1mm. The wheels should be balanced with these installed, and mounted on the car with them installed.
With the heavier cast wheels, sometimes the radial runout or weight disrtribution of the wheel is such that you may never get them to stop shaking, in spite of high-quality spin balancing.
Unfortunately, the Lexus vehicles are particularly sensitive to wheel or tire imbalance. That's why Manaray & I are advocates of buying high-quality aftermarket wheels...
What did you put on yours?

Thanks for all your help. I am going to get the wheels balanced again and see if that works,if not I'll have to make a decision on what else I can do. I didn't have the vibration with the Lexus factory rims on.

I had exact same problem! I had rebalanced my rims/tires package I got from wheelmax.com at a local tire place, and they couldn't fix it. So I took it to Lex dealer, and sure enough they fixed it. It cost 190 bucks. On the road balancer. They usually don't do aftermarket, but you have *****!
