Motorcycle Tire recommendations...
Here's the deal: I have a sports touring bike (see sig and avatar ), so I need a set of motorcycle tires that:
(a) have a firm center tread for touring longetivity, and
(b) have soft grippy side walls for enthusiastic sports riding.
Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance for your help!

I've never seen bike tires that offer BOTH of those attributes, usually one or the other.
I rode ST1100's for ten years, always liked Pirelli's or Bridgestone's

You really can't go wrong with any of these:
Metzeler Roadtec Z6
Michelin Pilot Road
Avon Storm
Pirelli Diablo Strada
All of these have a harder compound in the center to help prevent flat spots during highway riding. The side walls are a little softer so you can still hit the twisties.
I've had the Pilot Roads before and they were great - life cut short due to a screw. I'm running a Metzeler Z6 out back and have around 8k miles on it on my '99 Bandit 1200. My friend has the Z6 on the front and back and has never experienced any loss of traction - he tends to ride his ZRX pretty hard. I think these type of tires are the best for the street due to giving you decent mileage - if you do track days, that's a different story.
Oh yeah - if you're really into sport-touring on your bike - you should check out Sport-Touring.net
