Default Depends

Depends on what type of tire you're looking for. If you want an all out performance tire, I'd look into Bridgestone Potenza S-02's I think they're close to 150.. might be more. Same goes for Michelin Pilot Sports. Those tires also have more All-Season versions, the Bridgestone Potenza S-03 and the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. I'm not too familiar about pricing. But I am pretty sure you can find those for around 150. Check out www.tirerack.com to find more recommendations and they can even match your size.

Pilot Sports are excellent tires in both summer and all-season versions, but they're going to set you back more than $150 a tire, unfortunately.
The Dunlop SP Sports (can't remember the model number) that came stock on the '01 IS are pretty good tires for the money.

Default Hmm

If you want good ride, some traction and lasts long.. then high performance tires aren't your best bet. I don't know all too many tires that will give all 3 of those qualities. Higher performance tires will definitely stiffen up the ride due to their stiffer sidewalls. They also don't last long.. maybe 15-20,000 miles max with conservative driving. But they do give the best traction. So with that in mind, I would again recommend the Potenza S-03's. They're more all season than the S-02, but by no means are they winter capable tires. But they will be somewhat smoother than an S-02, give decent grip for all but the most aggressive driver. As for wear.. I have an S2000 with the S-02's and at 15,000 miles, the rears have some tread left, but not much. And I am a fairly aggressive driver.

avoid Michelin Pilot Sports - the sidewalls are waaay too hard - even gives my MB C320 with 17's a harsh ride.

I've heard the S03's are good.

if you wanna go cheap go with Kumho 712's - I've heard the ride is pretty good too.
