Default Brakes making noise

Ok, I got the group buy package on the brakes (slot/crossed drilled, ebc green pads) from Steve Ganz that happened about a year ago. I have about 1000 miles on them right now, and every time I brake, they make a noise like when you stick a card in the spokes of your wheels on your bicycle. Is this normal. Its pretty loud.

I would say thats NOT normal.

Check if any debris or brake dust is trapped between the pads and rotors....or take it to Midas and ask what they think is causing the noise.

mcgong: Is the noise you hear like a fluttering noise. If so, most of us who bought the rotors/ebc pads from Steve have this noise too. I've had the rotors for almost a year now and they still make that noise. I believe it has to do with the rotors being cross drilled & having slots. I could be wrong about what's causing the noise but I do know that a lot of us who got the rotors noticed the noise right away.

MCgong,

It's normal for the slotted / drilled rotors, both Dex and I have the same noise you describe on ours.

It's not too bad, but a little annoying. When I replace them, I'll probably just go with drilled.

Thanks for the help and info guys. Saves me a trip down to the shop to get them checked out. From the inside of the car I don't really hear it unless I brake really hard. But with the stero off and the windows cracked, I can hear it. If you guys say it is normal, then I won't worry about it. Thanks.

I have the same noise, its funny, I desribed it to my friend yesterday using the same anaolgy, the cards in the spokes description. I just put mine on about a week or two ago, the noise was there immediately. Its not too loud, but its enough to annoy the hell out of me if I let it. There was another post on here awhile ago saying that the noise was caused by not replacing the shim/ anti squeel kit when replacing the pads. Im not sure if this is true or not, but I have a new shim kit sitting here, Im just waiting to find time to pu them on. I will let you know if this changes anything.
