Default Wheel size/offset question

What are the typical offsets people are running?

I'm looking at some wheels in these sizes 19×8.5 +38 / 19×9.5 +38 and was wondering about rubbing or needing spacers

You should be fine with those specs. Rim design will ultimately dictate if the front will clear the calipers...this would be my only concern with a +38 in the front on a 8.5 rim.
If they don't, then a small spacer should solve the issue.

I was looking at the work emotion m8r

I wouldn't think there would be any brake clearing issues...

You should be ok with those, of course the rim supplier should be able to confirm fitment.

Any idea if 9.5 +32 will fit in the front with a slight drop?

9" +32 will fit, but check brake clearance with the wheel shop.

9.5" most likely will not at any offset.

Updating this thread as I recently purchased a set of wheels on these exact specs and my fronts did not clear the brake calipers (wheel design issue).

Tried to install a 5mm spacer and barely cleared the calipers. 2 potential problems though:

1. Will the brake calipers post any contact issues with the wheel as calipers tend to expand when it heats up and

2. Will I need to replace my OEM studs since placing the 5mm spacer lessened the bite of my lugnuts to about 3.5 full turns

A 1+mm clearance between the rim and caliper is fine...the caliper will never expand that much.
You'll be fine with a 5mm spacer.

Thanks, Sasnuke. Is it safe to say that for as long as the wheel can do a full turn without hitting the caliper, then it should be ok?

I would say so...you're really looking for a 1mm or more clearance between the caliper and spoke.

while on this topic, can anyone advise on ideal rim size/offset for 18" rims while on rsr downs?

I currently only use my stock wheels(18") but I'm using spacers, and looking to switch to a set that wouldn't require spacers, and still not rub/ and look flush

If you want to stick with a staggered 18 setup, then here's some ideal specs. The challenge would be finding rims you like with the exact specs.
Tire size could impact the rim specs slightly.
I would recommend:
18x8.5 +28 (finding this in the real world is likely unlikely...+30 would be good...or +35 and you could use a drop-in 5mm spacer)
18x9.5 +38 (this is pretty much as good as it gets)

So far the widest square setup has been 18x9.5 +38.
