Brake/Rotor replacement
Hey all!
Straight to the point:
I've got a 2007 IS250, when I brake I hear a slight squeak and then grinding the harder I push.
Questions:
1) Replacing front pads to Akebono but would like help with different model #s they have like ACT908 or 1178 and so follows, their descriptions are the same.
2) Would like to switch rotors, any recommendations for rotors anybody around here has tested/used that are good for daily driving (80% highway/20% city)?
A little more detail:
I've been out of town for a month so my car was borrowed and now that I'm back and driving the car, I'm experiencing the squeaks/grinds. I was told that the brakes have been squeaking hard for the month or so and have now gotten to this point of barely squeaking and then a heavier grinding.
The main reason I want to replace my rotors is that since I have no idea when they were last replaced and if I replace them now, at least I'll have exact details from here on out. Both front rotors have a definite lip. I'd prefer plain rotors since I don't care about looks for slotted/drilled. I'm seeing lots of cheap rotors as I search around but I'm weary of going with 'cheap' for things my brakes are involved with.
I've also gone around and quoted some dealerships and local mechanics and I'm seeing about $100 - $200 to change the rotors and brakes for my fronts only, is that decent? I'd love to do it myself but I don't have many of the tools that I'm seeing in the DIYs so that'll have to be the next time I need my brakes done.
Anything would help thanks!
