Question RESURFACE or REPLACE Rotor? What do you think?

Hey Guys,
My fiancees IS350 steering wheel is shaking when braking and I dont know if
I should have the rotors resurfaced or replaced.

Car has 43K miles

Car brake pad were replaced at 25K and that shop resurfaced the rotors because they noticed the rotors were warped a litle.

What do you guys suggest and what is the expected cost?

Oh,
If I resurfaced the rotors do i need to replace the pads?

Let me know

Rotors don't warp.

What you're experiencing is from uneven brake pad transfer, usually from either not bedding the brakes properly or not using them properly.

See here for why it happens, what to do about it, and how to prevent it:

I'm going to take the car into a brake shop in a couple of hours. What should ask them to do because you know they will try to sell me the whole shop

Hey All,
I just called a few places and everyone is suggesting to replace my front brakes and rotors ($600 bucks). They told me since the rotors have been resurfaced that they dont recommend to resurface them again because they are probably too thin.

My father and I have changed brakes in the past and i just saw a DIY on YOUTUBE for brakes and rotors and it seems relativity easy.

Has anyone changed their brake and rotors on your own? What brake/rotor combo should i buy if i do this? This is for my fiancee car so its regular street/freeway driving.

Any thoughts?

Do it yourself. I replaced my car's front rotors, front pads and rear pads before. Easy morning job. If I remember correctly I bought everything for right around $280 and I was all set.

aftermarket Centric Rotors are about $140 plus shipping for the set on Rockauto.com. The daily driver ones, they also make an economy version and theres raybestos premium performance on the site. Search online, they usually have 5% off coupon codesl

Pads are about $50 from Sewell with with the CL discount.

DiY is simple. The setup is floating rotor with no screws so its very easy

Yep, replace them.

No point in resurfacing since they are most likely already so thin from the first resurface and they need to be within a certain spec. The thinner it is, the likely hook of it warping is greater.

Hey Guys,
Last Stupid Question

I was on the ROCK AUTO parts website the opitions are broken down to "Economy" and "Daily Driver"

Economy Centric PAD and Rotors are about $150

Daily Driver Centric PAD and Rotors are about $250

Would my fiancee know the difference between the two? Would the extra $100 for the extra mile?

Thanks for the input

It's best to stick with OEM. How about ordering the parts from Sewell parts? If you register and enter club lexus, you get discount.

Not sure but I have the daily driver ones rotors with the OEM low dust pads. Work fine for me for 2 years so far.

But if she is not driving hard, I'd go Economy rotors with OEM pads.
