Question 355mm (14") vs. 322mm (13") brakes...

Besides looks, is it worth bothering with the 14" brake rotors over the 13" ones? There's a significant price difference.

Damn Bit, you must have read my mind. I have been sitting here all morning going back and forth on wether or not to spend the extra $500 on 14" rotors. I know they will look better, but is it really worth the extra coin? Im about to make a decision today, so hopefully some people with some knowledge will chime in.

I've been debating that myself. Every thread I look for brake info, I see you 2 also. Looks like at least the 3 of us will be getting new brakes soon.

I'm guessing a larger rotor will cool faster; less fade. But for $500, not sure it would be worth it for the 99% street driving machine.

Dex,

If you plan to go to 20's on you car, 14" rotor looks right in place, I have the SupraTT 12.7" rotors which look really small inside the 20's

yes, larger rotors will have better cooling and less fade. another major aspect is the stopping torque power. the further away from the center of the rotor that the calipers grab, the bigger is the tq value that's put on the system to stop the car

but this is theory, unless you treat streets like the track, it should be no difference

"F" it, Im gonna go with the big boys, 14 inchers for me!!!

I know if I dont, I will be wishing I did in about two months. I know I dont need it for performance, but I will be the Mac with the 355mm jumping out from behind the 20's!!

Bit and Neo, what brand brakes were you looking into going with?

StopTech. I have the L-Tuned 18s so space is tight. I would consider some of the other big boys but they just won't fit.

I considered Rotora but color, (maybe) spacer, and brand-confidence were factors in my decision to go towards StopTech.

Neo - did you try the StopTech 14" template inside your rims? I can fit them on my 19's.

I also am more interested in StopTech's. I'd love the 4 wheel package, but I think that besides looks, upgraded rear brakes will be nearly pointless.
