Default Difference in brake components?

Hey guys, I currently have a gs300 and used to own a gs400, both 1999. I test drove a 2003 sport design and noticed the braking power was much different as it felt more firm. I noticed on both GS's that i've owned, the brakes have felt very spongy and soft like it lacks braking power. Just wondering if the components were different in the later years? I doubt it, but figured i'd ask. I know there's a bunch of variables to take into account, but I ask because I've just had my brake system serviced, I've had all the brake pads and rotors replaced and also had a brake fluid flush, yet the brakes still feel soft and like I have to brace myself when coming to a quick stop sometimes. Anyone have an idea what the deal might be?

Lazy Notes: Test drove 03 sport design, brakes were great!! Own a 99 GS300, replaced all rotors & pads w/ brake fluid flush, still brakes like crap. what's the deal?

after doing some research, looks like the 01-05 does have an improved BMC, has anyone successfully done this upgrade to a 98-00?

Kowala,
Some people on the forum have swapped over to a 01-05 BMC, but you will notice the plug is different for the oil sensor on the bmc. It's triangular versus horizontal. You will have to swap them out to get it to work and the screws to the 4 lines have been an issue for some people. Other than that, it's not too difficult to do, plus improvements on the 01-05 models.

Do a quick search and you'll see some diy.

My 98 GS4 used to have soft brakes but they are much better after changing the calipers. I find the calipers on these cars start acting up (leaking, sticking etc) way too soon.

Check yours out and make sure they are in really good shape.

My ex mechanic as well as other people forget the importance to grease the slider pins after replacing pads and/or rotor resurfacing.

Now I have to pay to do it again. FML when a brand new brake job needs to be redone pre maturely.
