Removal of rotor splash shields and brake dust???
I have the Supra TT brakes sitting in the garage and planned to TRIM the shields to fit the larger caliper/rotor.
I have been getting a TON of dust on the new wheels.
I am thinking that the shield may be directing the dust from the inside pad onto the wheel.
Would removing the shield entirely help this at all? Any negative effects of no shield.
I also plan to go to pads with less dust (ebc).
Thanks.
Ryan

In regards to the dust shield...
About removing the dust shields, I haven't seen any detrimental effects after I completely removed mine.
Maybe you should PM Rominl or Manaray and whoever else has the "bigger, big" brake upgrades about their setups for confirmation because their 6piston AP Racing Brake setup would most likely require dustshield removal or extensive work to it to accomodate the larger 13" or 14" rotors.
Good luck, sorry I can't help you with the brake dust problem though.

All you need to do is cut a 1"x2" rectanguler section from the front/upper part of the shield... IT WAS SO EASY! This will alloe the shield to stay right where it is....Believe it or not, with EBC green stuff pads and the SupraTT calipers, my rear wheels sometimes show more dust than the fronts. The stock SupraTT pad HAS TO BE the all time most dust producing pad period.. Your wheel will be black in a week of regular driving..... I had the Gettins for 1 week before I ordered the EBC pads, thats how bad it was......

Quick comment - the EBC greenstuff pads are great for reducing brake dust. They produce far less than even my stock GS pads did.

EBC=NO DUST*
I had quite a bit of dust when I first installed my EBC's on my Supra TT calipers, but I guess after they broke in, I now have virtually no dust. Now my gloss black calipers are still very shiny after 2 mounths. Whenever I shoot wheel cleaner on my wheels, I just make sure to hit the calipers too.
* Technically I think all pads have to give off dust when they wear, but I suppose the EBC dust just doesn't stick to your wheels.

yes, there are always brake dust from pads, that's how they work, always. but how refine they are, how heat resistant, how sticky they are, etc.... are what characterize as how we say if a pad is dusty. the ebc green stuff are quite known for their clean brake dust, also for endless who is famous for no dust. and i guess everyone has read about just how much you want to wash your car with the trd pads
