Default Bilstein Sport Shocks

I just ordered a set of Bilstein Sport shocks for my GS400. I have searched this forum and see that most people who used them have lowering springs. I know bilstein designed them to work with lowering springs, I however plan to use my OEM springs because I am looking for the stiffer ride without losing ground clearance. Will there be any adverse effect by using the OEM springs on these shocks? Thank you in advance.

I think bilstein makes two different shocks, HD and sport. HD is for stock height cars and sport is for lowered cars.

I think that is right, I'm not sure but I think the Sports are also a bit stiffer. I am going to mate Sports with my Eibach Springs.

Bistein makes two shocks for our cars, you are correct. I'm not sure of your goals but if you're going with mild lowering (0.7-1.2 Eibach) the HD might be a better choice. Bilstein SP shocks are better paired with moderate/aggressive lowering (1.0-1.9 inches) and have stronger dampening

The rule of thumb I've always used was:

Mild lowering (0.7-1.2) matched with KYB shocks
Moderate lowering (1.0-1.5) matched with Bilstein HD
Aggressive lowering (1.5-2.0) matched with Bilstein SP

I'm going on 3 yrs with a 2.2" drop and KYB's. They still ride perfect. At the time, I wanted the Bilstein's but just didn't have the money so I figured whatever...

I was thinking of pairing the Sports with my Eibachs since Eibachs have a somewhat stiff spring rate (compared to Tanebe's Springs, atleast). I am looking for a sporty ride, and since I do not have any polyurethane bushings and I have pretty thick tires, I was thinking the Sports would give me a nice stiff/ sporty ride without rattling my bones. I guess I may have to rethink my choice.

I just raised my car back up on OEM springs with Bilstein Sports. Ride is so much better now. Hopefully I won't be going through tires as often now that the camber is back to normal. Highway float is slightly more noticeable, but you don't feel every pebble on the road like before.
