Default Brake Pad?

My wife is still on her factory brake pad set. Obviously there was a recall for these but not sure if mine would be covered so far out of the recall. Just wondering a good brake pad option to eliminate all that dust?

Any help..I searched but didn't turn up much except for the recall info

Im pretty sure they will honor any recall. If not the pads are an fairly easy and cheap replacement.

just called them. They didn't have it listed for our car. Is there any notable brands/types that are less dusty than the stockers?

A couple of members run ebc red/green pads with good result. I myself run rotora pads with low dust. Any ceramic pads would do it.

If u go to sewell lexus parts (our forum vendor) u can get the "low dust" pads which are OEM from Toyota and what they use in the recall I believe. Not sure about aftern market pads, but there are quite a few. Hopefully someone can chime in if you are looking for non-OEM.

There was never a recall for this.

There was a TSIB though. If you went in, while under warranty, and told them your brakes produce too much dust, they would swap on the low-dust Lexus pads for free.

If you're out of warranty obviously it's not free, but it solves the problem.

good call Kurtz, not a recall but a TSIB. You can get those low dust pads at Sewell.

thanks for the response guys..much appreciated

I am going in for 2 open recalls anyway on friday and I am going to mention the tsib to them and see what they say. I forget the mileage/years on the factory recall not sure if I am out of it

Otherwise probably just go with the oem low dust kits thanks for the tip on the forum sponsor

i was interested in getting some OEM pads to replace my front brakes as well, but they seem pretty pricey on sewell:

$106 for the low-dust brake pads???? anyone know of any other places to get them from?

$106 if you aren't logged in.

Register with your clublexus screen name and you see the discounted price of $77.52. (which you're not likely to find any substantially lower price than for OEM)

Hi,

I installed the EBC Red (Ceramic) and it start to vibrate at high speed braking (60+mph). At lower speed the braking is awesome. I took the brake apart and found small black burn marks on the rotors. The local shop told me EBC Red is too rough for daily driving (even though it ceramic). I sand of the burn marks and install the low dust OEM version from Lexus and the problem goes away....
