rubbing will depend on your offset and tire size. If your car rubs now, then till rub when it's lowered more (since you're making the "gap" smaller, there's less travel need for the tire to rub the fender...) As for travel in the coils, you'll probably have to hit up your manufacturer to find out that info...

The suspension can travel more than the gap since the wheel tilted in when hitting bumps not straight up. So it will tuck in to the wheel well.
so a one finger gap will not rub when the wheel is turned? What about when it's straight and you hit a pothole. (good example!) It's going to hit the fender plastic hard, right? Even if the offset has it tucked in enough.
I was trying to determine the travel on the shocks. I want it low but don't want it to rub. I think it's inevitable! What's your thoughts?
The wheel will hit when the wheel is turned to one extreme (left or right) IF YOU hit a dip/bump while turning...
When it's straight, so long as your width and offset is good, you won't rub at all.
As for suspension travel, it really depends on the suspension. With the Tein FLEX for example, you can retain FULL travel AND lower the car...but with most coilovers, you are adjusting the travel along with the height...
Like I said, if you're tires don't rub the edge of the fenders now (when you hit a dip...and one that makes your wheel tuck into the fenders), then it won't rub if you lower it another inch...this is in regards to the wheels being straight, not turned.
What setup (wheel/tire) do you have that you're concerned about?
i have ssr gt3's with 19x8.5 and 19x10 with 245/35 and 275/30 and i wanted to lower it with either tein flex or l-sportline suspension. I live in massachusetts and i think i seen a pot hole once....lol......
