Default steering wheel shudders at diff speeds

I put ssr agle strusse wheels on my car.
18x8.5 in front and 18x9.5 in the rear . My steering wheel shudders at different speeds, Has anyone else had this problem. The wheels are hubcentric and supposedly don't need hub centering rings. I have 235 40 18's on the front. Pirelli p7000 supersports. Does my car need centering rings, wider tires, or what? The car has had numerous allignments and tire balancing, nothing seems to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you aready had the car alligned with the rims on and the tires been balanced...then lets try to eliminate some causes.

Is the tires brand new? if not sometimes the tires wear down to the car it was originally on, and now on your car if has a shimmy at different speeds.

You said that the rims supposedly don't need centering rings, my freinds rims also said that but we put centering rings on anyway, better safe than sorry.

Does the shimmy happen when you brake only? might be that your rotors are worn down, maybe even warped.

As for the tire size, it look fine. 235 on 8.5 rims is within the specs.

And the last thing I can think of is that maybe one or both of your front rims might be warped.

Aloha

It's a tough thing to solve.

Unfortunately, the only 'solution' often involves doing a lot of stuff at once. New tires, hunter balance, 4 wheel alignment, and make sure rims are not bent.

My rims/tires are 98% or so shudder free and the 2% is pretty minor at around 75mph.

Angry steering wheel shutter also

I just modified my 98 GS400, I also put new strusse SST wheels with new Bridgestone polepositions on.
I also have a steering wheel vibration at 60mph plus.
I had the vibration only after the new wheels and tires. Since then New Brembro brakes, and a Tein suspention package have gone on, so it's not do to those.
I did not know of any centering ring so I will inquire about those. My wheel mounter says the Wheels are not bent but I am going to check that further.
I also see on another forum that some says the wheels could be slipping on the rim, but I doubt that but will check it.
I hope this is not a serious problem, I was told by someone at Rod Millen that they have herd of this problem but with no solutions.
Have you found anything else out.
I will let you know what I find.
Thanks, Bill

I had a shudders problem when braking from 80-60. It start to happen when I put my new 18" rim on the car. Wrap rotor? No.. I had a new TRD rotor installed about 2 month prior to installation of 18". The car was smooth on my 17". With the nw 18", it was really had to balance my car. I need to find a good technician who know how to alligned lower suspension car.

The last guy who allign my car give me a really weird report. Two different value for left and right.. maybe that is causing my problem?
