Default i have the same problem

im just living with it for now. i have a set of ebc green stuff. as soon as i put them on i will et it be known. seems like this is a common problem, its cheap materials in the break pad that makes it squeek. hope that helps. i think you can get them from tire rack. good luck!

That's ridiculous...you can get TRD pads cheaper than that...

Did you reinstall your shims?

Did you buy metallic pads or organic? If they squeal, and they were cheap, you probably bought the semi-metallic. Go organic.

Also, make sure your shim was placed properly, and all clips were reinstalled.

Is the squealing coming from the front or the rear?

Just FYI, but I don't use the anti-squeal stuff. It's usually not necessary.

go back and ask them to fix it. usually you only hear squeak if you have aftermarket metallic pads. even with my full ap racing upgrade, i don't hear that much squeak as well.

go back and ask them to check again. either they did something wrong or they didn't put back in the shim/fitting kits on the pads. that affects a lot

The EBC greens don't squeek. It's something else. More than likely it's something to do with the installation of the shims.

There should be a metal shim backing plate for each pad and there should be a thin rubber like pad between the brake pad and the metal shim. I have the shop manual and the factory spec indicates that some type of anti squeal compound needs to be applied between these two pieces.

Anyone who sells the shims will be able to look up the part number.

Also, depending on your braking...if you did buy the semi-metallic brakes, you run the chance of caking them, which could cause a horrible squeak as well.

If you did get the metallic, I'd ditch them for the organics, if you're putting shims in anyways (the pads will need to be removed).

elclassico has the EBC green which uses a kevlar formulation, so no semi metallic here. These are one of the better pads available for our cars, both in performance and dust, which is virtually gone. They also don't wear down the rotors like other performance pads, but are still worthy for racing applications.

My bud changed to EBC on his new Mercedes after just 500 miles of dealing with dust from the factory pads. He is extremely happy now.

Oh, I just realized it was gs393 that originally posted the problem. So yes, it's unknown what pads he has.

elclassico,
Let us know what you think of the EBC's.
