Brakes dragging after install?
I just installed new rotors and pads and I feel I am getting a lot of drag and squeel. Even when I accelerate from a standstill I notice I have to gas it a little more than before.
Is it possible that I tightened the two bolts too much on the front calipers (not the bracket bolts; the other ones)? Are they not supposed to be tightened that much?
Any other suggestions?

Nevermind...I think I found what the problem was. Sticking caliper pins. Took them out and re-greased also re-greased the back of the pads and used brake cleaner spray on the rotors while I was in there. Seems to be a lot better but still a squeel every once in a while; perhaps this is common for the first week or so with new rotors and pads.
What do you mean? Brake parts cleaner spray? If so, I already did that...on the rotor. They are not squeeling loudly like you may think. VERY sporatically and only when I am coasting, never during acceleration or braking.
I just did my brakes (new rotors and pads) on the weekend as well. Whenever I do brakes I always put lots of brake-anti-seize compund between all the shims and slider clips and pins. This really helps to prevent squeeling.
In your case if the squealing is occurring even without braking it probably isn't your pads. It could be that you have some debris between the pad and the rotor or it could be that one of your clips got bent and its rubbing against the rotor, or maybe you accidently bent the backing plate/shield and its rubbing. If it is a faint squeal it will probably go away after while (once whatever is rubbing wears out)
Are you sure the noise is not the master cylinder running through its self check cycle?

...Damn, you could be on to something here. I will check it when I get my car back from the bodyshop this weekend. I am getting some aero goodies installed.
Thanks again for the insight.
check your e-brake adjustment, make sure the pads are not too tight. I had to readjust my passenger rear because I found out whoever adjust them before me, pretty much left the adjustment so tight the pads where still grabbing on to the rotor hat when i was driving without the e-brake engaged. After I adjusted it, the car actually moves ! hahah

I just researched these areas that will need inspecting:
- Re-adjust parking brake
- Inspect and grind down as necessary any parts hitting rotor
When I get my car back I will check these things out...this should do it!
Thanks again!!!

I have been having the same issue since installing my LS400 calipers / pads / rotors. It seems to be getting better as I drive, I was thinking maybe the piston in the caliper was sticking, but I might try to grease up the pins as you didwhen I get time to take it apart again. PITA.
I want to say that it will just effect the rears but i am not familiar at all with the e-brake portion on any car. Something I have to research more and adjust myself if necessary. Can anyone else provide input?
