www.swiftracing.com

It does not take of the gov limiter. All it does is a remap of Air/Fuel ratio for the Cold air intake.

Another fact, WR ECU on 430, couldn't feel the difference either. Keep in mind that Lexus cuts lots of corners for 430. If I were to purchase a GS, I'd definitely stick with 400 or 300 (drop 2JZ-GTE in there).

welcome young'n. i have the swift HFI/ECU combo. i dont know too much about the weapon-r, but i can definitely feel and hear the difference in performance. but what you will notice is a power increase higher in the rpm range. engine now has somewhat of a "sweet spot" right around 3 grand. it most certainly changes the characteristics of the GS. as far as reliability, i really havent heard of any problems with the set-up, as opposed to the weapon products. add an aftermarket exhaust system, and it turns the car into an animal. post some pics of the cars soon!!!!! holla

Rick,

You can't compare GS400 with 430. Why? Because 400 is easier to tune. I've sat in GS400 w/SRT, GS400 w/WR, and GS430 w/SRT. My friend has GS430 w/WR. I won't release their names here but they are all CL members.

SRT has a larger intake pipe than WR. If you want, you can buy my SRT for GS430 since I'm waiting for my forced induction anyway.

I don't have my GS4 yet (in process) but find a bitkahuna post and look at his mods. He was kind enough to take me for a spin in his 400, and I was very favorably impressed with the handling and cornering, and still a nice ride. I had driven a new stock GS430 and liked the power but wanted more in the handling area. I have had a few sports and performance cars including MG-B, Austin Healy 3000-6, Dodge Challenger with the big engine, and two Corvettes, and I think bitkahuna's car really could run with any of them on local public roads. The car I'm getting has the dealer installed L-tuned stage II with the 17" Lexus 5-spoke wheels. My plan is to replace the wheels with staggered 18s and add the sway bars and maybe the STBs. Can't wait!

Could you comment on the GS430 cut corners....

does this limit the effectiveness of mods>>>>> etc

First off, welcome to ClubLexus...

Now for the nitty gritty...if you're going to add a ECU mod, voiding your warranty on your suspension is the least of your worries...I'd rather have to pay out of pocket to replace suspension parts than to replace a engine.

If you're cool with your dealership, you won't have to worry about voiding your warranty...I started modding my car right after I bought it (NEW).

To give the GS430 better handling, add the following.

1) TRD Sway Bars (Front and Rear)
2) Any front STB (ALL fit the GS430 but you have to remove the USELESS engine cover. It's two nuts...a monkey could remove it. )
3) A rear STB will also help but the install is a little more involved.
4) L-tuned shock/springs (or any other like H&R, Eibach, etc.) will work ok and lower the car a little bit, but if you're serious, get Coilovers. I DON'T recommend the Tein HA's if you value a smooth ride. Others like the APEX World Sport, Tein CS/Flex, etc. will give you a better ride. The HA's are more geared towards track so the springs are rather stiff.
5) TOM'S or TRD (TOM'S is better) Front Lower Chassis Brace (Front LCB)
6) TOM'S Rear Lower Chassis Brace (Rear LCB)
7) TOM'S 6-Piece Rear Link Kit (RLK)

I have ALL the things listed above on my GS430 (including H&R Stage 4 Coilovers) and the handling is incredible (as it should be!)

If you want pictures, look under my Gallery in the picture gallery area. I have pictures of all those parts installed on my car (except for the coilovers...no clear pictures but it shows up a little bit in a few).

Also, USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION and read some posts. This topic has been covered about 1.3 billion times. (Maybe 1.4 billion?)

Dennis: How did Lexus cut corners in the GS430? I've NEVER heard that one before!?
