Initial bite is the difference in feel I mentioned, but again has no relation to stopping distance.
For me, the new pads resulted in a different feel to the brakes, and a requirement for increased pressure on the brake pedal for the same stopping power. As a result, pressing the pedal with the same pressure I used with the OEM brakes doesn't stop me as soon.

Stopping distance when engaging ABS may be the same (as it is more dependent on tires), but having to press harder on the brake pedal for the same result can definitely result in a longer stopping distance for an average driver.

Not really. Assuming you can press the same for the same amount of deceleration just means you're insensitive to what the brakes are doing anyway, so it won't matter how they feel, you're going to have issues stopping. In an emergency, you'll have brake assist anyway, so that will make up for the weak pedal effort.

Brakes even 10 years ago required at LOT more pedal effort than what we have today, and I personally dislike the brakes on most cars because they're too sensitive which makes them more difficult to accurately modulate without engaging ABS. My Supra's stock brakes require about 40% more effort than the IS's brakes, and I've never had a problem stopping the Supra, nor have I heard any tester complain about pedal effort required to stop a Supra. In fact, in 1998, Motor Trend called the Supra's brakes "the best we have tested in more than thirty years of new car testing."

I would never go back to the grabby, dust producing brake pads the car had when it was delivered. IMHO, they suck.

Does your car have to be under warranty to replace them for a low dust pad? My wheels are dirty again within 2 days of cleaning them

Well, they don't do work this for free without warranty, so yeah. Sewell sells the low dust pads for like 40 bucks though, so I don't think I'd pay local dealer pricing for em.

Note that the -feel- of the brakes might change for you somewhat (they should be smoother, and less immediately "grabby") but your stopping distance will be identical
Test it yourself and you will notice the different. However, low dust pads still dust a lot. I don't like dealer pads.

What is different?

stopping distance sure isn't. It can't be.

Anyone who thinks your pads change your stopping distance doesn't understand how brakes work...or physics.

No, they don't.

If your pads still dust a lot they're not the low dust pads.

Seriously, it's a massive, night and day, difference.

In 1-2 months of the low dust pads my wheels are significantly, visibly, cleaner, than 1-2 days with the original pads.
