was able to put the rears in today, took almost half a day on just one side because my wife wasnt heavy enough for the control arm to come down. went next door and this 16 yr old kid weighed 150, stepped on it and I managed to wiggle it away in 5mins. Kid left so for the other side I called on my 6" 240lb friend...BAM..out it falls with no sweat! Rained so wasnt able to do the fronts...actually, the fronts are in, they just need the sleeves because I put them on before the sleeves came in.

For the drop, I counted 23 threads up from the bottom (meaning I have 23 more full turns if I wanted to go LOWER), could barely fit 2 fingers now, I'll try to go another half inch lower.

OH, boy the ride is amazing. With 1 being Softest, 10 stiffest, I can compare it to: 4 - Stock sc. 2 - Stock Mercedes C class 7 - MR2 on stock suspension 10 - lowered civic on aftermarket springs/shocks 5 - Ford Expedition

This setup is a 7. Not too firm, not too soft, just how my 91 MR2 was when it was stock. So worth it for the money.

I made a mistake putting in the stock SC bumpstop without modding it to fit first The stock SC bumpstop is too long, you really need to mod it to fit properly, otherwise you won't have enough travel in the setup resulting in limited drop and very bumpy ride ....lol that's how it is for me right now. I'll need to go in again and mod those stupid bumpstops I guess...

Yeah just turn down the sleeve to the bottom and cut the bumpstop with a razor blade. Should be easy.

you know you could have used a breaker bar or a long pipe to lower the control arm. another very easy way is to disconnect the sway bar.

how much shock travel do you have up front? mine's about an inch, but with uncut bumpstops. So right now I'm happy with the drop (1.5 finger gap front, 1.75 finger gap rear), after I cut the bumpstops I should have at least 1.5 to 2 inches of travel or remain at one inch shock travel if I lower a bit more.

You mean just cut the bumpstops with a blade while still on the car?

Apparently there is a good possibility that you can run 600/400 springs or better with the HD Bilsteins as the AK1242 and AK1243 may be rated at 800 pounds, similar to the TRD Bilsteins for Toyota. If you go to page twelve of Gixxer's SF thread and start at post #278 you find that this info quoted from Bilstein engineers. Our CL thread is far from cutting edge on the topic and there is no mention of the possibily here. Gixxer_drew may have tested this by mid-July and will update SF thread. My spring order is on hold because I'd love to order higher spring rates without the revalve or helper springs. Everything else to do this is sitting in the garage.

Oh yeah, regarding bump stops, If $12 a pair is not an issue, do it right when you have everything apart. Energy Suspension Polyurethane part number 4.6103R for the Ford Mustang fit perfectly.

Yup those would work as well. When I did mine autozone wanted to order them and add a couple of days on it. I said no, just because I wanted done the day I got the shocks haha.

I have no idea how much suspension travel I have in the front, good enough not to even bottom out. Looking at the black splash guard there is 1 scrape on it but I have never damaged it or anything. The rear has a lot less, but I have only bottomed out twice, once was about 70mph over a very bad rise and dip in the middle of a bad intersection and another time was some nasty construction work.

Default One inch drop

I am going to install this same setup on my 92 sc400.

Can you give me an idea as to where to initially set the sleeves to achieve a one inch drop?

I realize I will need to fine adjust it afterwards.

I just want to be in the ballpark to start.

Thanks,

Alan
