Default Brakes Question 99 GS400

Hey guys i was wondering if any of you guys have had the same problem. Today i was driving stuck in traffic on the FDR here in NYC and once in a while, i will say every 2 minutes or so, after i stepped on the brakes i would hear a sound coming from the front sort of like if something was recharging, same sounds as when a compressor is building up air. it lasts for like 5-10 seconds and then stops. While im driving in non-traffic at regular speeds it wont do it until i get off the highway. Anyone knows what might be wrong or am i just stressing it too much? thanks in advance guys.

Mine used to do the same thing. But now my pump stays on for longer than 10 second and make some horrible sound. I'm suspecting that its my abs pump though. But yours sounds normal. Mine on the other hand isn't pleasant plus i have my brake, abs, vsc, vcs off lights on. If you don't have those then you're fine.

Normal...electronic brake booster pump.

Check your brake fluid level.
