Default 18" FT and 19" Rear staggered setup

I'm looking into the Volk Progressive ME wheels and I'm debating about going with an 18 X 8- 43 face-1 front and either a 19 X 8.5-43 face-2 or a 19 X 9.5-45 face-2

The OEM tires on the IS-sport are 225/40R18 and 255/40R18. There are 2 variables that are making me head this direction. I don't think there is much of a need for a wider tire since i will be driving this vehicle as a DD mostly. The supra will be the RR vehicle. With that being said I don't see much of an advantage with a wider wheel either since I don't have much of a need for a wider rear wheel.

The OEM front tires have a 225mm foot print that brings the height of the tire to 90mm. The rears have a 255mm foot print that brings the height of the tire to 102mm. To me that makes the rear looser with a taller tire. Usage of a 255/35R18 tire nets the same tire height as the front but the rolling tire diameter is reduced and will somehow affect handling since the ABS,TCS,VDIM (and nav) look at all 4 wheel speed sensors. Using a 19" rear wheel with a 265/35R19 tire will net the same rolling tire diameter as the OEM 255/40R18 and have the same tire height as the front so the stability of the vehicle should be even more consistent.

Does anyone here have a staggered setup as such?

-Joe

I don't see how it could be awefull. I'm just trying to figure out a way to keep the same rolling tire diameter and contact patch width as OEM while reducing the sidewall flex in the rear tires.

BTW, Where are you ordering them from? I am interested in getting a set of 19's with face 1 fronts and face 2 rears. Maybe they will give us a discount.

As I said in your other post (unless there are two of you asking the exact same question), I run 19 front 20 rear because of the stock staggered tire sizes as well and the fact I didn't want a larger rear sidewall. After all optical illusions are taken account for, they look about the same in size, where with most same-sized wheel sizes, the front will actually look a little bit bigger. Anyways, there is at least one other person on the forums running 19 front 20 rear (Eddie something I think), but none that I've seen are running a 18 front 19 rear, though someone posted a blacked out 3 series running some red trimmed time attacks with 18 front 19 rear a long time ago.

I think the car looks way better when you keep the same diameter front and rear and keep and even fender gap. To me, this is the most clean setup you can run, but to each his own I guess.
