question about stainless steel brake lines
i asked elsewhere on the board but got no response...
how important is it for the fittings to be also in stainless? i noticed that the price between stainless lines that have ss fittings and those that do not have almost a $100 difference...

ss brake lines will make your brake pedal feel more firm when you press on the brakes. the ss brake lines prevents the oem brake lines from expanding when you brake. if you are doing a bbk, you might as well get the ss brake lines and the cost is not that significant. but to answer your question: i dont think its that important. the pedal feel was the only thing that changed so i dont know if it worth 100 bucks to you.

i just did a 96k service and one of my stock rear brake lines has a split in it. when you step on the brakes, you can see the split expand. the mechanic has told me to spend the extra and replace all of the lines with stainless, but the prices he gave are what i mentioned above... stainless or non stainless fittings. i don't know if it's common for these fittings to rust or not.
