Ordered mine today! All these suspension group buys and new parts are going to have these GS's flying through the corners.

I ordered mine the same time and receive it on the same date, and I'm in ATL. Super fast shipping.

Default How do you use jack stands?

Would someone please post how to use, and where to place, jack stands for the GS.

And, do you need to just jack up the front of the car, or do you need to jack up the front and rear for this install?

I've never used jack stands before and have no idea where to place them or even how to use them -- so a good explanation would be greatly appreciated!!!

Also - can I just pick them up at Walmart? What type and brand etc... too!

Thanks,

Scott

Here you go:

You can place your jackstand in the specified corner. You wont be able to miss it because there will be two notches that shows you where to put your jack. You only need to lift the front up, but you dont need to life it to the point where your front end is 10 feet off the ground. Just enough so you can work under the car. I high recommend getting wheel chokes (about $10?) or use bricks and put them in front and behind the rear wheel. This is just precaution.

As for jackstand, I use the one at kragen that I bought awhile ago. it may not be craftsman or the likes, but it has worked well for me.

Also, even though I have 2 ton jackstands, I recommend going with 2.5 tons just for headroom. 2 tons will work, but I rather not have the jack reach it's limit.

Well it is not really reaching two ton at all. The only way your 2 Ton Jack Stand would reach the limit, if if you used one, and put it on the exact center of the car, and balance the entire car on that point. Jack Stands placed at the corners are load-sharing.

But, just as an FYI, the cheap **** on Harbour Freight, those Jack-Stands have been knonw to fail. If you have those I would be worried.

Thanks GSTeg ...

Still a question - so the jackstands go behind the front wheels on the markers?

And, are jackstands a bottle jack or is there something specifically called a jack stand that when I walk into kragen, sears, walmart etc... that will say jack stand?

And do I need one or two jackstands( one for each side of the car )?

Like I said - jackstands and raising the car are all new to me - working on the car I've got some experience. I just want to make sure I'm doing it right and not get myself killed under it!

Thanks

P.S. I ordered my kit from TM - hope it comes fast!

It's a part specifically called a jack stand. It's basically a metal stand that holds the car up. You'll need one for each side of the car. Front left/front right.

at first I thought this mod would be questionable, but after I installed it (took about an hour)..the steering is razor sharp.....I'm doing lane changes at 100mph with razor sharp precision. so tight and firm..really adds to other mods I have on my suspension...a plus all the way...for $40 it the biggest bang for the buck....

P.S. I followed the instructions to the tee, except I didnt take the cross brace totally off I left on one bolt and swong the brace to the side...saved a little time trying to put it back on

Sweet sweet write up!!

I read every post in this thread but nobody mentioned the shaking at 60mph... does this fix that at all?

Either way, I'll pick up a couple sets of these bushings.

Thanks!

Clifford
