Default Tein CS ?

I know that GS300Rich and a few others had a small problem with Tein CS in which the top bolt on shock was not tight enough from the factory and caused damage to shock upper.

My question is can I tighten this nut before the shock is installed on car or does it have to be tightened once mounted. I'm assuming there is a groove on the shaft that you can put a wrench on to hold it secure while tightening nut. Is this the case?

There is a slot on the top of the piston for a 10mm open end wrench I believe. The only problem is there is no load on the shock so the piston will want to turn very easily. Once there is a load on it, it is easier to tighten. In the CS manual it calls for a torque spec, but I was unable to torque it down because the shaft kept turning. It is kind of a pain to tighten. I just keep and eye on mine and I haven't has another one come loose.

Hey Chuck,

I was told that the bolt is not torqued down from the factory. Once the coilover is installed they need to torque that bolt down. I guess when I had the CS re-installed they didnt do this to one of my coilovers and it cost me $445 to get it fixed

I guess that accounts for all four correct? they all should be torqued down I should have these installed sometime next week...

hi all i just got my used set of tein cs in... previous owner put 12k miles on them and that bolt seems to be planted pretty tight... do any of you guys know how many lb/torque needed onthat screw?
