DIY Caliper Painting
So I painted my calipers with Black High gloss Plasti-kote High Temp brake caliper paint from Pep Boys that costs $7.00. So here's the step by step procedure that I did and it turned out pretty good. I hope this helps. I know there are some tutorials already...
1. Make sure you clean the entire calipers from brake dusts, oils and dirt. I used Laquer thinner because it easily removes oil and dries up right away. Be careful not to touch your car's paint.
2.With a masking tape and newspaper, cover the entire caliper surroundings to prevent over spray.
Tip: just be patient and make sure everything is pretty much covered and only caliper is exposed.
3. Then start painting...1 thin coat to start and let it dry for 5 mins. and spray another coat to complete.
I prefer 3 coats..last coat is to seal it.
4. Your car is going to look like this while waiting for the paint to dry up. Again just be patient. The paint that I used takes 1 hour to 1 1/2 to dry up.
5. Then apply caliper stickers....
Before:
After:
.
It took me a total of 2.5-3 hours to do it.
