Bilstein HD Installation Question
i just got my bilstein HD combo for both rears and fronts. everything looks great. however, what i noticed about the fronts is that the ring that goes over the strut so the spring can sit on it, is perfectly flat. normally those rings are a bit curved with an indentation so that the spring can sit on it. both my fronts have rings that are flat. is this going to be a problem? these are the DIRECT replacement bilstein parts to replace my oem shocks and to use with my oem springs. does anyone have any info on this?

thanks jacobt for your reply.
i'm actually talking about the front struts and the spring plate( the metalic piece) that wraps on the strut body. it's the metalic piece that has the indentation. i see yours is the SP version of bilstein. mine are the HD version and the spring plates are flat.

well, it's been a few years, and i've been on my bilstein HD's for a while. thought i'd bring this up to see how other people's HD's came from the box.
flat or curved spring plate?

How did the Bilstein HD finally turn out...
...any issues with them perched on the Flat spring plate,,
noises, grinding, clunking, sqealing...?
I am now tempted to get the Sports that have the indentation as to avoid any noises....my Ltuned shocks (with Eibach set up) are about to die out after 25K miles (on smooth pavement/suburbs and mostly HWY surface).

I have the HDs with L-tuned springs. I have the indentation as well. I did it a couple of months ago. You deffinatelly need that on your car. You can call billstein and have the send you new plates, you are covered under lifetime warantee. So tell them that someone just messed up, and you didn't have a chance to install it untill now.
damnit, cuz i called them back in 2005 and confirmed with them, and they said the flat plates should be fine. so far, i've had no issues, no rubbing or grinding noises.
man, i don't want to dish out for labor again, damnit!
